USAAF WW2 Type D-1 Shearling Jacket

In a very good condition a US Army Airforce Type D-1 Shearling Jacket.
The D-1 is a simple middleweight sheepskin jacket with two zip pockets, originally intended for use by USAAF ground crew personnel, often working in horrific weather conditions.
Considering the D1 was designed as a ground crew jacket a surprising number made their way into the air.
Because of its simple design, the choice of intermediate weight sheepskin and its lack of bulk in comparison to the Type B3, many fliers traded their B3s for D1s.
The original data tag is still present which shows it to have been manufactured by PERRY SPORTSWEAR CO. in size MEDIUM. Overall the jacket is in very good condition. The main zipper is functional and also the pocket zippers.
The jacket has traces of wear and age and has on the sleeve the printed USAAF logo.
A very stunning and hard to find jacket.
