Major Klaus Häberlen earned the German Cross in Gold on March 19, 1943 as Hauptmann und Kommandeur of the I. Gruppe/ Kampfgeschwader 51 “Edelweiss” and the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on June 20, 1943 as Hauptmann und Kommandeur of the I. Gruppe/ Kampfgeschwader 51 “Edelweiss”.
