US WW2 Major General and Nuremberg Trail Member: Lawrence C. Jaynes Officer Overcoat

In a very good condition a stunning and extreme hard to find US Officers M-1926 Short Overcoat of Major General Lawrence C. Jaynes (Aug-10-1891 - Jun-20-1977) ASN: 0-10540.
Major General Jaynes began his military career in 1918 as a first lieutenant in the Army ordnance corps. He soon transferred to the infantry and then served that year as a tank commander in France in World War I.

Between World War I and World War II, he attended the Infantry School at Fort Benning, Ga., the General Staff College and the Army War College.

He was a major when World War II broke out. In that conflict he served first as a member of the Operations and Plans War Department General Staff. Then followed numerous troop assignments and promotions that led to the rank of brigadier general.

In 1944, he organized the North African Theater Replacement and Training Command, serving in North Africa, Italy and France. He was promoted to major general in 1945.

After the war, he was appointed president of the first Allied military tribunal to try Nazi war criminals. The proceedings of this trial became the precedent for the Nuremberg trials of 1946.

He later served as commanding general of the New York, New Jersey and Delaware military district.

When the Korean War started, General Jaynes returned to Washington as special assistant to the chief of staff for reserve forces, a position he held until his retirement from the Army.
General Jaynes won numerous military decorations and awards including the Army Distinguished Service Medal for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility.

The overcoat comes in a very good mannequin size and has the original insignia of the 1st Army and the Allied Force Headquarters (AFHQ) original attached.
Ncie to see is that underneath the 1st army insignia the ghost triangle of the 7th or 13th armored division is still visible that he served in as chief of staff of the Seventh Armored Division (1942) and as assistant commander of the Thirteenth Armored and in April, 1944.
At the shoulderboard a set of two bouillion made general starts are original attached to the coat indicating the rank of Major General.
The overcoat is on the inside maker marked and has also the name and laundrynumber of MG Jaynes stamped.
Inside the pocket as found was also his silk made black scarf present that finish the overcoat perfectly.
