SS-Obersturmführer Walter Girg earned the Ritterkreuz on October 4, 1944 as SS-Obersturmführer und Zugführer of the 1. Kompanie/ SS-Jäger-Bataillon 502 and the Eichenlaub on April 1, 1945 as SS-Hauptsturmführer und Führer of a Sonderkommando of SS-Jagdverband Mitte.
