German LW Flighthelmet LkpW101 of Oblt. Alfred Westphal / 1. (F) /Aufklärungsgruppe 123

In a very good condition a stunning German Luftwaffe Flighthelmet (Kopfhaube) type LkpW101 and goggles.
The leather flight helmet comes in a good mannequin head size and has still traces of the original label.
Attached to the helmet is a stunning large size flight goggles with the original elastic strap arround the helmet.
Inside the fur lining of the helmet is the original name marked of the owner 'Alfred Westphal'.
Alfred was an Oberleutnant in the Luftwaffe 1. (F) /Aufklärungsgruppe 123 and was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class, 1st Class, 'Luftwaffen Ehrenpokal für besondere Leistungen im Luftkrieg' and the German Cross in Gold for his achievements.

Aufgestellt am 1. April 1936 in Grossenhain aus der 1. / Aufklärungsgruppe 323. Am 1. Oktober 1937 zur 3. / Aufklärungs-Gruppe 23 umbenannt.
Neu aufgestellt am 1. November 1938 in Würzburg aus der 1. / Aufklärungsgruppe 25. Im August 1938 verlegte die Staffel nach Ansbach und im Oktober 1939 nach Langendiebach. Im Juli 1940 folgte die Verlegung nach Toussus-le-Bruc. Ab 1941 Aufklärungsflüge über England (Ju 88 u. Me 110); am 29.03.1943 dem Angriffsführer England unterstellt (Ju 88 u. Fw 190); Ende 1943 Verlegung nach Italien;
27.08.1944 aufgelöst, später Neuaufstellung (Arado 234); April 1945 bei Luftwaffen-Kommando "West" (Schwäbisch Hall).
